New England Patriots Book Place in Super Bowl

The final two teams have officially been decided for this year’s NFL Super Bowl championship game. After an impressive performance on Sunday night, the New England Patriots have booked their place in the American Football Conference Championship final after beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 36 points to 17. The Patriots will now face the NFC champion, Atlanta Falcons in one of the biggest sporting events of the year. The Falcons dispatched the Green Bay Packers earlier on Sunday to book their spot in the NFL showpiece that will take place in Houston on the 5th of February.

As it stands, the Patriots are the early favourites to claim the title heading into the final. The New England team are on the verge of claiming their fifth NFL title with star quarterback Tom Brady heading up the team. Speaking to the press, Brady said that his team has won a lot of different ways and under a lot of different circumstances. He went on to say that winning was all about mental toughness and he feels his team has what it takes on the day.

Falcons Topple Dallas Cowboys

For the Falcons, it was quarterback Matt Ryan who got them through to the finals. Ryan threw for a total of 392 yards and had no less than four touchdown passes in the game in Atlanta. Two of his passes were caught by rising star Julio Jones who racked up a total of nine catches for 180 yards. Ryan also took the opportunity to run his own touchdown. Speaking to the press Ryan said that his team played well and did exactly what they had been doing all year.

In the game against the Falcons, the Green Bay Packers were riding high from an eight-game winning streak. They had dispatched the top-seeded Dallas Cowboys in a thrilling upset and were feeling unstoppable. However, it didn’t take long for the Packers to get a taste of what Atlanta had in store for them. From their very first possession, Atlanta drove 80 yards in 13 plays, converting three third downs. At half time, the Falcons were leading 24 points to 0, with the Green Bay Fans staring on in disbelief. With a solid win in the bag, the Green Bay packers should be feeling good about their chances against the might of the New England Patriots come February 5th.
