Adams Helps the OKC Thunder to Third Straight Win
It has been a good week for Steven Adams and the Oklahoma City Thunder. After two impressive performances and a duo of wins, Adams and the Thunder put in another masterful display against the Los Angeles Lakers, taking them through to their third consecutive win of 114 points to 90. To say that Adams had a good day would be a bit of an understatement. The 24-year-old scored an impressive 21 points from 10-12 shooting along with a solid 10 rebounds and he recorded his third straight double-double for the season.
Adams alone, racked up a total of seven defensive rebounds, one higher than the entire Lakers team put together who only managed to scrape together six. He also had more offensive rebounds than the Lakers could produce in total. All this added up to a fairly easy win for the Thunder as they coasted their way past the Lakers for their third straight win.
Sitting out the fourth quarter, Adams was the second highest scorer for the Thunder behind Carmelo Anthony who racked up 27 points and whose imposing presence was too much for Lakers rookie Kyle Kuzma to contend with. From the early stages of the match, it was clear that OKC were in control as they executed what was essentially one their most complete performances of the season so far.
An Impressive Performance from the Entire Team
At the end of the first quarter, the Thunder were leading 33 points to 25, but the gap was slowly whittled down by half time, giving the Lakers some form of hope. If Los Angeles thought they could make a comeback in the second half, those thoughts were quickly shut down as OKC put on another 22 points to secure a well-deserved win. It was a performance in which the entire team contributed. In fact, all but one player put the ball through the basket, a feat that has not gone unnoticed.
Following Adams lead, as many as nine Thunder players secured an additional possession and at least one offensive rebound. Looking at the numbers, this would make it the third match in a row in which seven OKC players gathered in an offensive rebound. With another win in the bag, the Thunder has a bit of momentum ahead of their big clash with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
