Have you always wanted to know what makes Roger the Pin tick, how superstar players cope with being left off the team, or why Blake Ayshford insists on wearing nothing but a badly-fitting wrestling singlet when he’s training?
Well, thanks to Sky Sports and NZHerald.Co.NZ, you can get answers to all these questions and more when Warrior TV kicks off!
Filming for the show started well before the novel coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak led to the National Rugby League postponing all competitions and it promises an unadulterated look at what goes on behind the scenes at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium.
In a recently released statement, Sky Sports described the series as a first of its kind for a Kiwi sports team and promised that former players who still have close ties to the club, like Francis Leger and Ayshford, would reveal stories never told before.
Sky Sports mentioned rare glimpses of the sheds post-match, unique lockdown features, and insight into how injured players and their families and friends deal with the stress of the professional scene. They promise to reveal team politics, what motivates the various members, and to update fans on how their favourite former players are doing. In short, says Sky Sports, every aspect of being one of the Warriors will be put out there for all to see.
Chief Executive Officer for the team, Cameron George, has given the series his full support and said that filming will remain unfettered to give fans the full story.
