Darren White, defender for Auckland City Football Club, has stated that his team is in fine form ahead of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, Club World Cup games that are set to start in Japan next Thursday. The Oceania Champions veteran, who managed to bronze medal finish two years ago, stood out in Auckland City’s 4 – 1 finish against the Hong Kong Rangers on Tuesday, with this triumph following the team’s 1 – 0 win against Hawke Bay on Saturday. Next up Auckland City faces a second friendly match with the Japan League 3 team, SC Sagamihara, set to kick off on Friday, at 14h00 local time, 18h00 NZST, and White is champing at the bit.

White has stated that the Auckland City Football Club luckily has now got “a few more players” who are experienced in these types of games. He went on to specifically mention Albert Riera, saying that the level of experience players like Riera were able to bring to the game was exactly what the Auckland City Football Club needed to ensure that they would be able to handle whatever the opposition required of them to in order to win.

White said that these games motivate players to perform at their very best levels, thanks to the fact that, for many, the opportunity to do so was a dream come true in terms of The Beautiful Game. The opportunity that playing against teams of the standard these games offered, and the support that crowds like the ones these matches are able to draw provided to players combine to make these games a once-in-a-lifetime chance, White went on to say, and the ACFC was dead-set on “making the most of [it]”.

The Future is Bright for Auckland City FC

White went on to say that the Auckland City Football Club has “a few more experienced heads this year”, and that a number of players, himself included, had the kind of soccer know-how that managed to combine the type of “depth and youth” that a football club needed.

White stated that the team had been working on a number of different aspects over the past six-week period, and added that this had been a very enjoyable process, allowing them to build up a kind of momentum that would hopefully carry them through to wins for their upcoming bouts. The Auckland City Football Club will begin their campaign next Thursday.
