Leicester City Faces Tough Champions League QF

New Zealand football fans who began following Leicester City when they became the English Premier League champions have had a disappointing year. However, despite their abysmal season at home, City has managed to survive to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. They face Atletico Madrid in Spain for the first leg on Wednesday.

Atletico is the bookies’ fourth-favourite to win the tournament this year, priced at $6.00, while Leicester remain outsiders at $40.00; so not only would an upset win by the English side please their fans, it could also prove quite profitable.

Dortmund vs Monaco could Go Either Way

The two QF first legs set for Tuesday include Borussia Dortmund at home to Monaco, the only French outfit left in the 2017 competition. Dortmund is currently at $8.00 to win the title, while Monaco is at $14.00. But the French team has pulled off some great goals this season, so they could surprise in the QF legs.

The leg that captures the most attention worldwide on Tuesday, however, is likely to be the Barcelona-Juventus match in Turin. The Italian side has been in good form throughout the 2017 tournament, and hey are being offered at $11.00 to win it.

But after FC Barca’s amazing six-goal comeback against PSG to make the final eight, they have to be the favourites in this encounter. The bookies agree: at $3.75, the Spanish team is second favourite to go all the way.

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Should Thrill

The Munich match on Wednesday is likely to be the most thrilling of the QF first legs. Bayern Munich delivered repeat 5-1 thumpings to Arsenal to make the final stages, and they are currently the $3.00 favourites to win the 2017 UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid are a strong side coming off an impressive season that saw them win 22 of 29, but once they were drawn to face Bayern in the QFs, their odds of a tournament win dropped to $5.50. Most New Zealand football punters will be backing Bayern to clinch this QF, and eventually the title.

However, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are never going to simply roll over, so don’t rule them out just yet. Tuesday and Wednesday should provide a feast of top European football, with lots more to come.
